6th November there is a course by
Down goalkeeping coach Alan Simpson
for developing goalkeepers and methods
of training goalkeepers. It is open
to twenty minor and senior goalkeepers
and all coaches in the county. The
course will be largely practical,
therefore any goalkeepers attending
should come suitably attired. Any
Goalkeepers wishing to attend the
practical session must register their
attendance as soon as possible.

The annual An Riocht indoor
gaelic football tournaments take place
on 2nd October (P5) and 9th October
(P7). Teams are five a side, panel
of seven.

After frustrating delay after frustrating
delay, at long last the new development
has gone to tender and hopefully work
will commence before the end of September.
The site of machinery on site must
trigger renewed fund raising if the
project is to be fully completed to
the standard we all expect. A new
round of gift-aid will commence shortly.

To mark the ‘cutting
of the first sod’ on the new
pitch, there is a mini festival comprising
of a car Treasure Hunt on Thursday
20th August leaving Dunavil between
630pm and 730pm; juvenile and adult
football v Ballymartin on Friday 21st
August followed by a table quiz; and
an adult Camogie / football match
and barbecue at Dunavil on Saturday
22 August with music by DJ McGiggs.

The Gaelic Games Nursery programme has
reunited on a Friday evening in the
sports hall at Dunavil for all players
from age ten downwards. From 7pm to
745pm it is for P1, P2 and P3 pupils,
from 745pm to 830pm it is for P4 &
P5 pupils and from 830pm to 915pm it
is for P6 and P7 pupils (all September
2009). New players are welcome to come
along and on arrival parents should
see Seamus Curran (U6), Leo Sloan (U8)
or Declan Campbell (U10). Before and
after practice players can attend youth
club activities (50p admittance).

drive to increase the number of people
in Gift-Aid will commence shortly. We
are entering a further ambitious phase
of development, having purchased ground
we are now on the verge of developing
another two pitches at Dunavil, floodlighting
the fields at Dunavil and refurbishing
the existing facilities To do this we’ll
need to raise money, and all the while
we’ll continue to provide top
class facilities, provide coaching,
provide an anchor in the community,
provide lifestyle choices and build
character in the next generation of
our youth. You can help via Gift-Aid.
It’s about people who believe
that what we’re doing is important
and valuable literally saying: ‘I
want to help with that’. Gift-Aid

managers from football and camogie teams,
administrators and supporters. Places
will be limited so it is important names
are given in as soon as possible. Also
this will serve as a refresher course
for those who completed the first defibrillator
training in November 2007.

* Indoor hurling starts Thursday 15th
January at 7.30pm.
* The coaching courses for camogie and
football will be coming up this month.
In camogie there will be two ninety
minute sessions entitled ‘lets
get started’ and ‘coaching
the tackle’ followed by the new
foundation course ‘Caman, get
a grip’. In football there is
a new course, the foundation course
has changed and once completed the coach
will follow one of three paths to the
next qualification relevant to him/her
(a) U12 down, or (b) aged 12 to 18,
or (c) adult. All three paths can then
be progressed from Level One to Level
Four.
* Scor Sinsir starts February and its
important that everyone aged 16+ interested
in participating comes forward as soon
