Games & Coaching 23/12/2005
The meeting to appoint team managers and arrange practices for 2006 will take place on Wednesday 4th January at 7:30pm at Dunavil. Hall practices resume from Monday 9th January. There may well be a meeting called over the Christmas/New Year period and with ‘press and post’ holidays notice may be short. Check at Dunavil, the website www.anriocht.com , or usual places for details.

At the meeting last Tuesday Chairman Michael O’Rourke welcomed several new members and some others have signalled their intent to attend the next meeting on Monday 9th January.

Grounds & Development 23/12/2005
Work will be ongoing over the holiday period and every bit of help will be both appreciated and needed. Start the year positively by doing a bit for the Club. The first of the spectator stands are due to be put in place later this week with the second due to go up immediately after the holidays.

Fiona Millar from Australia who acted as Club physio in the mid nineties has been in touch through the website, www.anriocht.com , and would like anyone who remembers her to get in touch to catch up with what people have been doing since she returned home. Club coaches are asked to take a few minutes to complete the Club Coach Information Form and return it to the Club this week and are reminded that the session in Castlewellan next Friday has been cancelled. Martin, Neil and Peter all picked up Awards at the South Down GAA Dinner on Friday. For young McClory it was his fourth ‘First Place’ in a row and eighth in all added to eight ‘Second Place’ and six ‘Third Place’ Awards.

Representatives of Gaelic Telecom the telephone company promoted by Croke Park visited the Club last week and put forward a convincing case for using their services. There will be more information in the next few weeks.

The juvenile scor competition, scor na nog, for those U16 this year starts soon. Anyone interested in taking part or helping with set or ceili dancing, recitation, solo singing, question time, instrumental or ballad groups should get in touch at the Club. It is important that the Club fulfils its cultural obligation.

At the SELB Youth Service Awards evening Kingdom Youth Club recipients were: ‘Child Protection Awareness Training’ Karen Sloan, Rosemarie Curran, Roisin Doran, Mary McAlinden, Martin Donnelly, Wayne Morris, Damian Cunningham, Noel Fitzpatrick, Peter Morgan and Don Cole. ‘Rescue & Emergency Training’ Sheila Harper, Wayne Morris, Mary McAlinden, Conrad McAlinden, Karen Spiers, Karen Sloan, Roisin Doran and Rosemarie Curran. ‘OCN Youth Worker Qualification’ Sheila Harper and Wayne Morris. ‘Keystone Awards Operator Licence’ Sheila Harper, Lucinda Love, Cathy Spiers and Wayne Morris.

Camogie 04/07/2005
The Juniors won in Warrenpoint but lost to Kilcoo. The Minors begin their campaign with the visit of Ballycran on Tuesday. The U14 beat Bredagh and Clonduff in the Championship. In Hilltown Briege Mulholland scored five goals. They now play Ballycran in the semi-final. The U12 got to the Championship semi-final where Ballycran proved too strong. They still have a League play-off to come.

Football 04/07/2005
The seniors won v. Burren but lost in Liatroim. On Thursday they play Rostrevor. The Seconds lost in Mayobridge and at home to league leaders Burren. The Thirds lost to Drumgath. The Minors lost to Rostrevor. On Wednesday they play Castlewellan. The U16 drew with Glasdrumman. The U14 beat Tullylish in the League and Annaclone in the Championship. The U14 won in Glenn on Sunday morning. The U10 played Longstone on Monday. The U8 played two games with Mitchels at Dunavil on Thursday.

Any junior member of An Riocht / KYC going to the Gaeltacht this summer can apply for financial assistance from Coiste na Gaeilge. Also any adults interested in conversational Irish, craic and enjoyment can apply for a place on the Ulster Council Irish Language Course at Downings in Donegal. Time is short so contact the Club if interested in either of the above.

Down Football 23/05/2005
Congrats to Martin, the two James and Fergal on reaching the Ulster minor semi-final against the odds and good luck to Brendan and John in the Qualifier Draw.

Well Done to Aaron Higgins who played for Down Primary Schools against Tyrone at half time in the big match at Healy Park on Sunday and led the band around afterwards.


An Ríocht Chairman Felix Higgins & Treasurer Daniel Cunningham make a presentation to Cathal Murray & Stephen McVeigh towards St. Louis Mac Rory cup training fund. The convent boys have been training regularly on Saturday mornings at An Ríochts Dunavil road grounds.
