An Riocht Annual General Meeting
The Chairman Felix
Higgins welcomed the highest ever attendance
to an AGM. The Treasurers Report
recorded income and expenditure in 2005. In
the Secretary’s Report he concentrated
on fund raising activities like the Table
Quizes and Gaelic Telecom as painless means of
financing the Club. He called for a full take
up on Gift-Aid. He wanted preparatory work on
a second pitch to commence and felt that the
administrative course undertaken in 2004 was
now coming to fruition. Also he called for a
greater use of the many coaching courses
available and for things not to be taken for
granted in the Club. Recruitment to the Club
needed to be pursued.
He asked people not to be negative
about the Club, rather get involved and give a
hand.
There were reports from the various Club sub
committees and a presentation from the Mourne
Hurling Club.
Thomas Clarke presented a Report from
the Grounds & Development sub-committee
detailing work undertaken during the year
particularly the fitness suite conversion and
the spectator stand which was almost
completed, and asked for more help with
ongoing maintenance. The Finance & Social
sub-committee Report was given by Michael
O’Rourke. In it he listed fund raisers which
had taken place during 2005 and asked for all
members to support these efforts in the coming
year. The
Games & Coaching Report was given by
Dermot Flanagan. In it he congratulated all
Club players with County and school teams and
singled out James Colgan and Martin Clarke who
had received individual recognition at
Provincial level. In his round up on teams he
noted steady progress at underage
while relegation at senior did not mean
any less effort was put in this year, he felt
it was more a consequence of the
unavailability of players. He congratulated
the Reserves on reaching the County Final.
Veronica Baldwin reported for An Riocht
Camogie seeking help from non players. Joe
Cunningham gave a Report on the Mourne
Hurling Club thanking An Riocht for all
support to date.
Before the Election of Officers Sean
O’Rourke called on everyone to commit to
making a better effort in 2006.
Jerry Sheehan took the Chair for the
Election of Officers to manage
the Club in 2006 and it resulted as follows:
Chairman James Cunningham. Treasurer Daniel
Cunningham. Secretary Joseph Donnan. County
Board Representative Sean O’Rourke. Chairman
Grounds & Development Nick Sloan. Secretary
Grounds & Development Pat Rodgers. Chairman
Finance & Social Michael O’Rourke. Secretary
Finance & Social Ann McArdle. Chairman Games &
Coaching Peter Walsh. Secretary Games &
Coaching Tom Cunningham. The Chairman said how
proud he was to accept this position and that
people here don’t realise how good we have it
and asked that everyone say yes when asked to
do their bit for the Club. He thanked outgoing
members Felix Higgins, Bernard Doyle, Thomas
Clarke and Dermot Flanagan for their service
in 2005 and hoped they would remain on a
sub-committee in 2006, the twenty fifth
anniversary of the Clubs formation. The new
committee then held a short meeting. It will
meet again on 12th December. |
