08/02/2010* The Mourne Hurlers met at Dunavil last Wedenesday. They have entered U8 & U10 blitz and U12 & U14 leagues. They begin indoor practice on 24th February. Their AGM is at 4pm on Sunday 21st February at Dunavil.

25/10/2009* Mourne Hurlers held the Frank McKnight Cup at Dunavil on Saturday. After a feast of indoor hurling Shamrocks received the Cup from Molly and William McKnight and Mourne took the Shield.

12/10/2009* Mourne Hurling will hold an indoor tournament for the Frank McKnight cup from 10am at Dunavil on Saturday 24th October.

04/10/2009 *Mourne Hurling met at Dunavil on Thursday and have plans in place to hold an indoor tournament for the Frank McKnight cup.

06/04/2009 MOURNE HURLERS
U10 & U12 indoor hurling practice continues on Thursday at the Kingdom sports hall from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Outdoor practice has begun at Kittys Road for U12 & U14 at 4pm on Sundays.
At their meeting on 1st April 2008 the committee, players and members of Mourne Hurling club agreed to extend their deepest sympathy to the entire family circle of Oisin McGuinness following Oisin’s tragic and untimely death.
Mourne Hurlers U12 team travelled to Warrenpoint on Saturday past to compete in the first blitz of the season. In the opening match with Warrenpoint, the boys and girls of Mourne held their own with Joseph Young pulling off some great saves and Conal Baldwin scoring 1-1 at the other end. In the second game against Newry Shamrocks Joseph Higgins netted a great goal for Mourne. Thanks to the coaches and parents who made the trip and well done to the young players who thoroughly enjoyed their day. Team: Fianna Baldwin, Conal Baldwin, Matthew Carvill, Sarah Carvill, Shannon Byrne, Marcus Byrne, Ronan Byrne, Marc Rooney, Joseph Young, Tony Young, Joseph Higgins, Peter Blaney, Christian Doyle.
On Friday Mourne U16 players took part in a tournament in the Louth Centre of Excellence at Darver playing three group matches.
If there are any previous playing members who would like to sell their helmets back to the club could they please contact any committee member or call out to any training session as there is a shortage of helmets for new players.

30/03/2009 MOURNE HURLERS
U10 & U12 indoor hurling practice continues on Thursday at the Kingdom sports hall from 7.30pm to 8.30pm. Outdoor practice has begun at Kittys Road for U12 & U14 at 4pm on Sundays. On Sunday the U16 team beat Kilclief in Kilclief. Last week they defeated St Patricks.

Indoor Hurling 06/01/2005
The Mourne Hurlers hosted an U16 indoor tournament at Dunavil organised by Joanna Sloan as part of her project for her KYC Senior Members course. Though Shamrocks were late cry-offs, Clonduff, Warrenpoint (2) and Mourne (2) all entered teams and it proved a keenly contested and enjoyable competition. Warrenpoint were the winners and Mrs. Molly McKnight presented the Frank McKnight Cup at the end of the night. Well done to all involved.

There is a meeting at 7:30pm on Wednesday (17th) in the Donard Hotel Newcastle to promote the Mourne Hurling Club. All local Clubs and interested individuals are invited to attend.

Mourne Hurlers were part of the half time entertainment at the Christy Ring Cup match between Down and Westmeath in Newry on Saturday. A party of twenty plus attended from the Club. In Liatroim on Wednesday past Mourne hurlers played out an entertaining and exciting game which the Fontenoys narrowly won 4:14 to 3:11. Darren Doyle and Conor Morgan were strong at the back with Mark Cunningham prominent at midfield and Rose Sloan and Paddy Gartland claiming most of the scores. We recorded a surprise win over Newry on Friday. Goals from Rose Sloan, Paddy Gartland and Diarmiud Flanagan helped the team secure a 3:0 to 1:1 success. Paul Sheehan was the visitors scorer.
Some of the older boys are now traveling to play with Warrenpoint under sixteens.

Hurling Update
16/04/2004
On Friday Newry travel to the town in the second game of the league. Warrenpoint were too strong last week. Clonduff have withdrawn.

Hurlers are in limbo 31/03/2004
The hurlers are in limbo at the moment. Having decided that if hurling is to flourish the team needs to be fully representative of Mourne those responsible for promoting it have not followed up with any concrete assistance so An Riocht continues to provide a base and equipment for training and games. Last Sunday the team played Carryduff in the town losing 3:2 to 1:0. They were somewhat depleted due to the St Louis match. Michelle Horner scored the goal and there were good performances from Michael White, Ryan Cunningham, Shane Horner and Dominic Trainor.
