U14 Camogie v Ballyholland
An Riocht U14 Camogs bounced back from championship disappointment to beat Harps 9-2 to 3-5 and retain top spot in the league with four games still to play. The defence played well with Tara Bowater and Nicole Cunningham in fine form and Megan Crawford between the posts having an inspired match. The scoring honours were shared between Laura Carvill 2-0 Danielle Higgins 2-0 Aine Fearon 2-0 Sarah Rodgers 1-0 Tierna Rooney 1-0 Sarah Carvill 1-0 Orla McAlinden 0-2.

Senior Camogie v Clonduff
An Riocht senior camogs recorded another victory at Dunavil on Monday when they overcame a very determined Clonduff II team. A great point from Sophie Colgan helped to settle the home side and she quickly pointed from a free to double the advantage. Clonduff responded to level things before Lisa Hughes rattled a goal to the net. Lisa recorded another point and Niaomh Mulhern recorded her first score to leave it half time 1-05 to 0-02.
The second half opened at a furious pace with a point from Sophie Colgan followed by a magnificent Clonduff point. Niaomh Mulhern was coming more into the game and following a burst of speed floated over a point from thirty yards. Sophie Colgan added to the tally and there then came the killer blow for the visitors when a hopeful ball into the box was beautifully knocked down by Laura Brennan for Janie Magee to hammer a ground shot to the net. The game was effectively over as a contest but Clonduff never gave up trying and were rewarded with a goal to make it a nervous last few minutes for An Riocht. However Lisa Hughes scored another point and Niaomh Mulhern and Sophie Colgan added to their tally for the night points apiece to leave it An Riocht 2-11 Clonduff II 1-04 at the final whistle.
All in all this was an enjoyable game played in perfect conditions. Joanna Sloan was again her cool self between the sticks while Marie Trainor was outstanding at corner back. Louise Rodgers and Colleen Fearon were very steady and held the line very well. Clara Killen was the last member of the defence and worked tirelessly throughout for the cause. At midfield Aine O Reilly was inspirational while Ciara Cunningham played a brilliant captains role. County star Laura Brennan showed exactly why she is just that with a fantastic show of blocking and distribution. Niaomh Mulhern started slowly but by half time had burst into life with some fantastic scores to her credit. Lisa Hughes looked glad to be back and worked tirelessly at her game while the two front runners of Sophie Colgan and Janie Magee kept constant pressure on the Clonduff defence and were simply too hot to handle. This victory keeps An Riocht well in the running for the next three games which will take them to the end of their first season in the second division Team An Riocht: Joanna Sloan, Louise Rodgers, Aine O' Reilly, Marie Trainor, Clara Killen, Ciara Trainor, Laura Brennan, Niaomh Mulhern, Sophie Colgan Colleen Fearon, Emma Jane Magee, Lisa Hughes. Subs Ciara Trainor, Ruth Colgan, Ella Colgan , Orla Cunningham, Emily Keenan, Nicole Kelly Maria Higgins, Sarah Jane Harper

U12 Football v Longstone
At Dunavil on Sunday morning An Riocht U12 footballers proved too strong for neighbours Longstone in a high scoring entertaining game. Team T Sloan, M Harper, R Matthews, S Cunningham, J Rafferty, A Hanna, D Hardy, A Sloan 0-1, R White 1-5, A Eastwood 0-1, D Morgan 0-4, S Flood 1-1, M Rooney 0-2, D Campbell 1-7, G Curran 1-0. Subs B Rooney, R Campbell 1-0.

U14 Football v Ballymartin
Playing with the wind An Riocht U14 footballers were wining by three points at half time but only scored a point in the second half. There were a few scoring chances but they were not taken, the bar was hit and some other shots came close but it was hard to get the ball up the field against the bigger Ballymartin team into the wind .The boys all tried hard. Best tonight were Kory Colgan Darragh Campbell and Declan Morgan, Andrew Harper came on at half time and played well also. Darragh Campbell scored 1-2 in the first half and Michael O' Rourke (0-3) hit the bar when An Riocht were winning by two points then Ballymartin got their goal to leave them one in front and though An Riocht replied with a Nathan McComiskey point to leave it all even the visitors struck for a late winner, 1-7 to 1-6.

U14 Football v Longstone
An Riocht progressed in the U14 football 'B' Championship with a big win over Longstone at Dunavil. All those hard matches and narrow defeats in Division Two stood to An Riocht when they faced the Division Three leaders. Playing some delightful football An Riocht blossomed against a team of similar stature to themselves and the large attendance were well entertained by the efforts of both teams. An Riocht: S Doran, B Rafferty, K Colgan, C Cunningham, D Clarke, J O'Rourke 0-1, S McDowell, JP Farrell 0-1, N McComiskey 0-3, R White 0-4, J Walker 0-1, D Morgan 1-3, R Spiers 0-1, M O'Rourke 4-1, D Campbell 1-5. Sub A Harper.

U16 Football v Bosco
The U16 footballers won in Bosco by twelve points to eleven. Ahead eight two at the break, An Riocht failed to finish off the home side and after Aidan McVeigh had done well to round the keeper but then struck the post An Riocht faced a nervous finish to the match.

Thirds Football v Mayobridge
The Thirds footballers won a high scoring game in the Bridge on Monday evening, 5-9 to 3-11. Game keeper turned poacher Kevin Matthews vacated his usual spot between the posts to bag two goals from top of the left. Team K Kearney; S Sloan, JL Cordell, D Morgan; C Cole, S McArdle, L Fitzpatrick 0-1; G Cunningham 1-0, P Small; M Spiers 1-2, D Flanagan 1-4, R McMillan; P Cousins, B Allen 0-1, K Matthews 2-1. Subs W Cranston for Cousins, E Kali for Allen.

Senior Reserve Football v Burren
On Saturday evening at Dunavil An Riocht and Burren premier reserve teams served up a hard but fair full blooded contest that would have done justice to the second division. Burren played with the wind and raced into a three nil lead. An Riocht hit back with points from Darren White and Darren Doyle to leave the minimum between them but the visitors then shot eight points in a row between the twelfth and twenty second minutes in a display of unerring accuracy that seemed to put the result beyond An Riocht. Chris Killen replied and with Darren Doyle pulling off some fine catches around centre field the home side limited Burren to just three further first half scores, 0-14 to 0-3 at the break. An ankle injury to Doyle however prevented him coming out for the second half. An Riocht emptied their bench, they now had the breeze but lacked Burren's composure in front of the posts. They outscored Burren four one by the forty fourth minute (Patrick Cole, Chris Killen, Stephen Annett and Paul Murney the scorers) and six three by the fiftieth, 0-17 to 0-9 (Darren White and Chris Killen on target) but compounded their predicament by missing a fifty third minute penalty. Noel McArdle pointed to leave two goals between them with three minutes remaining. Then Liam Harper soloed in and forced a fine save from the Burren keeper but the ball fell into the path of Darren White who side footed it over the line, 0-17 to 1-11. Paddy Cole caught the kick out and lofted the ball goal wards, Paul Murney caused confusion in the square and Damian Sherry pulled on the loose ball, the keeper got a hand but could not turn it past the post and after an age the ball eventually crossed the line into the net, on the kick out the final whistle sounded, 0-17 to 2-11, a draw. For An Riocht Liam Harper impressed on his return from injury, Stephen Annett is getting back to his best with every game and Darren White had a super game showing all the determination of a player with something to prove. Conor Cole too was impressive in the second half. Undoubtedly the introduction of Paul Murney at the break for the injured Darren Doyle was decisive in swinging the match in An Riocht's favour.

Senior Football v Clann Na Banna
In Banbridge on Friday An Riocht retained their 100% record but undoubtedly performances have dipped over the past four matches, still that's eleven straight wins, a seven point lead over second place and a score difference thirty points better than anyone else in the league. Hard to please or what?
Bann got off to a dream start with a goal and a point inside five minutes. Two minutes later Paddy Cole netted for An Riocht with a deft touch under the advancing keeper and then in the next attack forced a fine save from Michael McAllister. It took the visitors until the sixteenth minute to get level through frees from Paddy Cole and Noel McArdle. Paddy Cole and Paudi Bradley then exchanged scores before Richard Annett with our third free edged An Riocht back in front. Bann scored twice more to lead at the break 1-5 to 1-4.
An Riocht pointed four times on the restart through Paddy Cole, Richard Annett and substitute John Clarke (2) before Paddy Cole fired a screamer to the net giving McAllister no chance. The goal was simplicity itself with Brendan McVeighs kick out caught by James Colgan and played first time forward ahead of Paddy who cut in from the right and let fly, two passes and the back of the net. An Riocht failed to press their advantage with McAllister making spectacular saves from John Clarke and Johnny McBurney. A six point lead became two when Bann goaled from the penalty spot though John Clarke hit three on the trot in response. Three frees in response from Bann left a goal between them until late in the game Michael Trainor advanced to point the insurance score, An Riocht comfortable if unconvincing winners 2-12 to 2-8.

U10 tournament in Carryduff 17/06/2009
An Riocht U10s left the clubrooms very early on Saturday morning to make the long journey to Carryduff to take part in the annual tournament. Most of the panel last years U8s were unlucy in two competions last year finishing Runer up at the Longstone & An Riocht indoor tournaments. This young panel went more in hope than expectition and as always played the games in great sprit and sportmanship.

First up was the host team Carryduff B and An Riocht got there challenge under way with a win, next up was the fancied Clann Eirerann team, the Lurgan outfit had one off the biggest squads on show and despite battling all the way to the end An Riocht lost out. Little did Managers Declan Campbell, Paddy Carvill, Jim Clarke, and Leo Sloan, know that would be there young teams only defeat. Ther last group match was against the St Galls from Belfast and although the team from Antrim again were superior in height An Riocht were the better side in a great contest finishing level 0.02 each.

An Riocht qualified for the C section cup and again the draw looked difficult. First up was St. Theresa s from the Glen Road, An Riocht won this encounter 2.02 to 0.02 next was St James from Aldergrove but it was An Riocht who were flying leading 0.02 at half time. In a good second half the Antrim side drew level with the last kick to finish there games. The last match in the group for Soupys young men was St Endas from North Belfast. The An Riocht Mentors knew that a win would see An Riocht share the cup. The young side won the game to secure the cup as joint winners and the celebrations began. This was a fantastic day and a wonderful effort from the young side. All the good work at this age group is bearing fruit and this young panel will certinaly win again. They played fast skilful football in front of a big crowd and with only three for the eighteen over age next season the future looks good. Well done to everyone. Thanks to Carryduff G.A.C.

Panel Jack Rodgers, Matthew Carvill, Caomhan Campbell, Ryan Prichard, Ryan Mackey, Conal Baldwin, Philip Curren, Conor Clarke, Ronan Campbell, Celan Quinn, Corry Mc Cormick, Eoin Sloan, Matthew Rooney, Paddy M c Comiskey, Kerri Murion, Darragh Baldwin. Missing on the day were club dual star Lauren on duty for the Camogs and Rising star Thomas Murion who is sick. Get well soon Thomo.

U12 Camogie v Clonduff 16/06/2009
On Saturday at Dunavil Clonduff proved just that little bit too strong for An Riocht in the U12 championship.

U14 Camogie v Clonduff 16/06/2009
Orla McAlinden equalized with a fine solo goal after Clonduff had taken an early lead in this Championship match. The visitors stormed ahead again adding 2-1 to their tally before Tierna Rooney 1-1 and Orla McAlinden 0-1 replied for An Riocht. Clonduff were on top and could have gone further ahead but for some great play from Tara Bowater, Nicole Cunningham and Clare Connor in the home defence. Clonduff added another goal as An Riocht came under sustained pressure but it was then realised that An Riocht had played the second half a player short. Once restored to parity An Riocht finished strongly but fell just short of earning a replay.

Senior Camogie v Ballycran 16/06/2009
At last, after two walk-overs, An Riocht got the chance to win points on the pitch with the visit of Ballycran to Dunavil and they certainly took it with a hard fought victory by 3-7 to 1-10.

Sophie Colgan was in great form taking a Naoimh Mulhern pass to crash in an opening goal and soon added her second after a high catch, turn and shot. Naoimh Mulhern sped in for a third goal and then fired over a long range point. Ballycran hit back with a couple of points but were denied goals by resolute defensive play from Joanna Sloan and Louise Rodgers. At the other end points from Emma Jayne Magee and Laura Brennan put ten between the teams. The visitors then enjoyed a great spell just before the break pointing six times before Laura Brennan replied to leave it 3-4 to 0-8 at the break.

The Ards girls finally got the goal they had been after shortly into the second half and added a point to leave the minimum between the teams. Now An Riocht showed great heart and rallied to point through Lisa Hughes, Sophie Colgan
