The Seniors saw off another challenger at
Dunavil on Friday past on a score line of An Riocht 1:16 Warrenpoint 1:9. The
visitors started best and led seven points to two after twenty minutes. We were
poor all over, most notably in front of the posts where a couple of good goal
chances were spurned. However the switch of Michael Harper to the middle of the
field did increase our influence and by the break only two points separated the
teams, 0:5 to 0:7.

Five points from Martin Clarke on the
restart put us ahead for the first time, 0:10 to 0:9. Indeed in eighteen second
half minutes we turned a two point deficit into an eight point lead after a
brilliantly quick interchange between three or four players up the left wing
finished with Paddy Cole striking a goal. In added time Warrenpoint grabbed
their own goal but it was mere consolation and we hit back with the final two
points of the match.

Once we settled after a slow start the
backs contained their men well limiting them to two points between the twentieth
and sixtieth minutes. Jim Clarke and Deaglan O’Reilly were particularly
tenacious. Michael Harper who frustrated on the square performed a lot better
around midfield while up front Ciaran Walsh showed well throughout the hour and
Kieran Mc Veigh was a welcome returnee. Martin Clarke with ten points and a host
of assists made it all tick.
