An Riocht made
it three wins in a row with
a one point victory over Bryansford
at Dunavil. A tricky cross field
win made it difficult for the
players and scores were hard
to come by.
In the sixth
minute Gerard Morgan advanced
with the ball from defence before
slipping it on to Brian Burns
who placed Shane King on the
overlap and from close range
King hit the net to put Ford
1:1 to nil ahead.
An Riocht were
slow to settle and played themselves
into trouble on occasions at
the back, Joe Mc Veigh rescuing
one particularly dangerous situation
with a great block.
Twelve minutes
were played when Sean Paul Smith
opened our scoring from a free.
Paddy Cole who came on for the
injured Kevin Flanagan clipped
over another. Neil Doran and
Smith leveled things by the
twentieth minute, Smiths a particularly
special effort with the outside
of his right boot from a narrow
angle on the left.
Colm Kearney
burst into the match when he
won a penalty but Gavin Finnegan
was up to Shane Kings spot kick
and went full length to turn
it away, his second penalty
save in two matches.
Kearney got
in again but drove the ball
wide before in the next attack
he pointed Ford into the lead.
At the break
An Riocht trailed 1:3 to 0:4.
We were the
better team on the restart but
it took a quarter hour to draw
level at seven all.
Further points
from Kieran mc Veigh and Barry
Annett put us ahead for the
first time with five minutes
to play.
A point from
Conor Gribben left the result
on a knife edge entering added
time and King pointed a free
to level it in the sixty third
minute.
However there
was still time for Smith to
point his fourth and secure
a narrow but deserved victory.
Best wishes
to Brendan for a full and speedy
recovery.
