The
seniors played Castlewellan
and Longstone within three days
collecting maximum points in
the process.
At
home to Castlewellan the sides
were level four times in the
first half before the visitors
took a seven six interval lead.
That had increased by a point
on the restart when we goaled
following the move of the game.
Paul
Murney rose for a high catch
at midfield and kicked long
to John Clarke. He slipped the
ball to the advancing Aidan
Flanagan who saw Ciaran Walsh
inside the defence and he picked
his spot just inside the right
hand post past a diving Mickey
mc Veigh.
Having
gone in front we stayed there,
Neil Doran securing the win
with a mighty score from way
out on the sideline.
Scorers:
J Clarke 0:4; C Walsh 1:0; P
Cole 0:2; A Flanagan 0:2; A
Cunningham 0:1; N Doran 0:1;
J Lavery 0:1.
In
Longstone it was another close
game and again a goal at the
start of the second half proved
decisive. From the throw in
Aidan Flanagan delivered long
to John Clarke and he flicked
on to Ciaran Walsh who coolly
finished from the thirteen metre
line. Earlier the sides were
level six times as they went
in seven all at the break.
A goal up with an hour played
the defence covered itself in
glory as they withstood eight
additional minutes of Longstone
pressure without wilting.
Scorers:
J Clarke 0:7; C Walsh 1:0; N
Doran 0:1; P Murney 0:1; P Cole
0:1; D O’Reilly 0:1.
