Well done to the senior
footballers who are now eight games unbeaten
and in the semi final of the SFC. On Friday
in Burren they beat Rostrevor by five
points 2:8 to 0:9.
We got off to a good start,
Neill Doran goaling after Ciaran Walsh
had punched against the bar. We had much
the better of the half but our support
play was poor though we still led 1:3
to 0:5 at half time.
We were always ahead though
at times uncomfortably so. James Colgan
came in on the end of a sweeping move
but with the keeper beaten his shot came
out off the inside of the post. There
remained just a point or two in it until
added time when Martin Clarke raced Kieran
Sloan to the ball and cheekily lofted
it wide of the big keeper and inside the
side netting.
The backs defended heroicly
and in numbers with Liam mc Veigh, Declan
O’Reilly and Joe mc Veigh to the
fore; Paul Murney gave a trojan effort
in midfield while Aidan Flanagan hit a
good patch in the second half. Up front
the Clarkes and Aidan Cunningham worked
their markers hard.
