U16 Football
Final 22/09/2004
The under sixteen footballers played
poorly to lose a poor match that was
there to be won. That our best players
were to be found in defence says a
lot about how the game went for us.

U16 Football
v Bosco 01/09/2004
An Riocht claimed our third U16 FC
in a row and fifth in six years with
this hard earned victory in Mayobridge.
After close opening exchanges An Riocht
pulled clear to lead ten points to
three at half time. Some of the play
was of the highest standard with the
defence sharp and in front and the
forwards giving an exhibition of score
getting. Even on the restart we created
several good chances and pointed once
to go eight clear.
Then Bosco came to life in the final
quarter hour scoring 1:4 to leave
a point in it and forcing us to raise
our game again in the closing minutes
to finish five clear, 1:13 to 1:8.
Team and scorers: Joe Cole, Michael
Rodgers, Damian Sherry, Conor Doyle,
Darren Cunningham, Conor mc Veigh,
Gary Cunningham, Conor Walsh, Fergal

Subs Kyle Morris, Darren White, Christopher
Cunningham, Diarmuid Flanagan.

U16 Football
v Castlewellan 02/08/2004
An Riocht visited Castlewellan and
came away with a draw which all but
ends our league ambitions as Rostrevor
are unlikely to slip up at this stage.
Peter Walsh
tournament
26/07/2004
An Riocht finished runners-up in the
Peter Walsh tournament at Bryansford.
Having beaten Kilcoo, Bryansford and
Rostrevor, An Riocht fell short against
Castlewellan in the final. Due to
holidays and county commitments An
Riocht had only fifteen players on
duty on Saturday.
Castlewellan who had not beaten An
Riocht at this level for two years
ran out 16 to 5 point winners in the
end.

Under 16 Football
25/05/2004
An Riocht won
in the championship in Clonduff with
something to spare. Michael Rodgers,
Joe Cole, Fergal Doyle, Gary Cunningham
and Adrian Arterton were our best
performers.
Under 16 Football
17/05/2004
An Riocht made heavy weather of seeing
off Liatroim.
Under 16 Football
10/05/2004
Rostrevor won
nine five and Joe Cole in goals was
our star player so theres lots of
work to be done before the return
fixture.
The U16 footballers
remain unbeaten 03/05/2004
After a big win over Kilcoo on Thursday
the U16's remain unbeaten. Dave Morgan,
Kyle Morris, Chris Cunningham and
Conor Phillips caught the eye.
Under 16 boys
beat Castlewellan 28/04/2004
The under 16 boys beat Castlewellan
6:13 to 1:8. It will be hard to maintain
the high level of performance set
last Thursday. In an almost perfect
team display Conor Doyle, Conor Walsh
and Christopher Killen were outstanding.
Some of the long range scores, particularly
from Darren Cunningham, would have
graced a senior match. Scorers D Cunningham
1:6, D Ross 1:5, C Killen 1:2, A Arterton
1:0, C Walsh 1:0, JF White 1:0.
U16's flattered
by final scoreline against Bryansford
20/04/2004
The U16 footballers made heavy weather
of defeating Bryansford and were flattered
by the final scoreline. They completed
an unwanted hat trick as for the third
match in five days there was no referee.
Scorers were Declan Ross 2:7, Conor
Sloan 3:2, Darren Cunningham 0:3,
Christopher Killen 0:1, Adrian Arterton
0:1, John Francis White 0:1.
The U16 Footballers
16/04/2004
An Riocht beat Bryansford 5:15 To
2:7 In Newcastle. No Referee Turned
Up And A Ford Official Stepped In
To Take Charge. Thanks To Him For
Ensuring A Game Took Place. The Match
Was A Lot Closer Than The Final Scoreline
Suggests.
An Riocht Scorers Declan Ross 2:7;
Conor Sloan 3:2; Darren Cunningham
0:3; Christopher Killen 0:1; Adrian
Arterton 0:1; Johnny White 0:1.
U16's
edge close contest 06/04/2004
The under 16 team played Warrenpoint
just edging a close contest 1:9 to
2:5. After a poor first half the introduction
of Adrian Arterton and Christopher
Cunningham added urgency to the An
Riocht play. Joe Cole, Michael Rodgers,
Conor Mc Veigh, Conor Doyle and Damian
Sherry were others to impress.
