U14 Football v Drumgath
01/09/2004
After a close opening during which this
understrength An Riocht selection struggled
to find their feet and the scores were
tied at two all, we gradually steadied
and began making the most of our chances
moving seven two up by the break.
In the second half we extended our lead
and the visitors keeper made two great
saves but was unlucky towards the end
when Wayne Bowaters perseverance was
rewarded with a goal.
Others to impress were Brendan Allen
with a first half save; Daryl Bowater,
Stephen Corr and Michael Clarke in defence;
Michael Spiers in midfield; Conor Cole,
Miceal White and Diarmiud Flanagan in
attack.
Team: B Allen, S mc Veigh, S Corr, D

An Riocht beat Ballymartin at Pats Road
to finish top of their league section

half goal.
An Riocht played
Saval in Glenn and lost by double scores
28/06/2004
An Riocht played Saval in Glenn and
lost by double scores. On a wet, windy,
miserable night An Riocht never really
got going and were harshly shown by
the final scoreline. Playing into the
breeze Saval led 2:9 to 2:6 at half
time and though An Riocht put it up
to them in the third quarter there was
an inevitability about the outcome.
Brendan Allen made a couple of good
saves and Conor Cole and Stephen Corr
were best in an overworked defence.
Wayne Bowater and Diarmiud Flanagan,
Darren Doyle and Paddy Gartland were
our other top players.

U14 Football
11/06/2004
An Riocht enjoyed
one of those rare nights when everything
went right on Tuesday (8 June) for the
visit of Longstone and ran out clear
and convincing winners. Their previous
two meetings had been close and high
scoring affairs. Diarmuid Flanagan and
Wayne Bowater were on top at mid field,
Michael Spiers covered expertly behind
them, and Shane White, Ethan Burns and
Darren Doyle were in top form up front.
Scorers: Ethan
Burns 3:5, Darren Doyle 2:6, Michael
Spiers 1:1, Mark mc Kay 1:1, Shane White
0:3, Rory Cunningham 0:1, Conor Cole

An Riocht took
part in the feile peil on Saturday and
lost to Longstone in the semi-final.
Longstone goaled at the start and it
took An Riocht into the second half
to get level. Following a Michael Spiers
catch Darren Doyle banged in a great
goal to make it 1:4 apiece, Darren our
only scorer, but the ‘Stone goaled again
almost immediately and further points
from Shane White and Paddy Gartland
fell just short of forcing a draw.
Stephen Corr and Wayne
Bowater were our top players.

beat Castlewellan 28/04/2004

6:13 to 1:8. It will be hard to maintain

Some of the long range scores, particularly
from Darren Cunningham, would have graced
a senior match. Scorers D Cunningham
